Position 61* is for use prior to August 1979, when the antenna was raised to increase its diemater. Position 65* is for use prior to March 2005, when the 34-HEF antenna was moved to a more stable site. Position 49 is for the 64 meter antenna at Parkes, Australia. Position 74 is for the 35 meter ESA tracking antenna in New Norcia, Australia. Position 83 is for the 35 meter ESA tracking antenna in Cebreros, Spain. Several centimeter-level effects are different from the offical ITRF 2005 release. 1) The relative station locations here are based on JPL VLBI estimatation, and then then mapped to ITRF 2005. 2) For spacecraft tracking the antenna subreflector position is adjusted to maximize system gain, whereas for VLBI observations the subreflector is not moved. This causes a difference in effective vertical location of 7 cm for 70 meter antennas (DSS 14, 43, 63) and 1.5 cm for high-efficiency 34 meter antennas (15, 45, 65). The positions here reflect the spacecraft- tracking configuration. Adjustments for other antennas are not known at this time but are probably about 1.5 cm. 3) There are several known centimeter-level shifts in positions due to earthquakes (Goldstone) and due to antenna repair (DSS 65 in Madrid) that would take a more complicated table to represent. Where these are known, the positions above reflect the later position. Last updated by W M Folkner, 27 October 2008
